Overview
Long Ridge completed the construction of its 485-megawatt power plant in Hannibal, Ohio in 2021. The plant is one of the most energy efficient power plants of its class in the world. It delivers power into the PJM grid and provides long-term, low-cost energy to the region. The facility is compact, low-impact and significantly more advanced than earlier generations of natural gas plants.
In March 2022, the plant began blending hydrogen into its fuel mix, with a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions. It was the first utility scale power plant in the U.S. to achieve this important milestone. The plant utilizes a GE 7HA.02 combustion turbine, which can burn between 15-20% hydrogen (by volume) initially, with the capability to transition to higher blend percentages over time.

Economic Impact
The Hannibal, Ohiopower plant is located at the site of the former Ormet aluminum smelter, which operated for over half a century until its closure in 2013. The plant is a cornerstone for new economic development, providing low cost and reliable electricity needed to keep the region competitive.
The project employed more than 500 skilled craft laborers at the peak of construction. The facility employs more than 20 permanent staff of highly skilled personnel for operations and maintenance.
Including the local, well-paying jobs, the project is estimated to have generated statewide economic impacts of nearly $200 million during the construction period and over $20 million per year now that it is operational.
